Terms of Use for Hugspace Services
Welcome to the Hugspace Warmline/Emotional Support and Life Transition Services (“Services”), operated by Ukraine Liberty Fund (“ULF”). By using these Services, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following Terms of Use. Please read these terms carefully before using the Services.
1. Nature of Services
The Services provided by Hugspace are designed to support participants in navigating life transitions, social adaptation, personal well-being, and community integration. The Services are not a crisis prevention hotline and do not provide medical, psychological, psychiatric, or legal advice. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age. It is important to note that Hugspace is not a crisis prevention hotline and is not connected to 911 or other emergency dispatchers. Our services are not a substitute for professional clinical, medical, or legal advice.
2. Peer Advisors (also referred to as “Navigators”)
The Services are operated by trained Peer Advisors who provide empathetic and non-judgmental support. They may not possess formal education or professional licensing in counseling, psychology, or related fields.
3. Limitation of Liability
While Peer Advisors strive to offer compassionate assistance, ULF and Hugspace make no representations or warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of the support provided. The Services are provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, ULF disclaims all warranties, express or implied. Participation in the Services is voluntary, and participants remain solely responsible for their personal, medical, legal, financial, and other decisions. We are here to support you, but we cannot guarantee specific outcomes from your participation in the Services.
4. Participant Responsibility
Participants are solely responsible for their decisions and actions following interactions with Peer Advisors. If you are experiencing severe emotional distress or contemplating self-harm, you are strongly encouraged to seek professional help or contact emergency services. In the case of a life-threatening emergency, please dial 911 immediately.
5. Confidentiality
We respect the confidentiality of all interactions within the Services. Information shared during sessions is intended to remain private and is not disclosed to third parties, except as described in these Terms. To help our Peer Advisors provide the highest quality support, conversations may be processed using automated tools and artificial intelligence (AI), as outlined in Section 10. Such processing is conducted in accordance with standard data protection practices, and wherever possible, data is anonymized or de-identified.
Confidentiality may be limited in cases where there is a credible risk of harm to the participant or others, or where disclosure is required by applicable law. Our Peer Advisors may be required by law or organizational policy to report situations involving immediate threats of harm to yourself or others, or suspected abuse of children or vulnerable adults. The Services are not affiliated with or connected to 911, emergency response services, law enforcement agencies, hospitals, or crisis intervention centers. In the case of a life-threatening emergency, please dial 911 immediately.
6. User Conduct
Participants agree to engage respectfully and responsibly with Peer Advisors. To maintain a safe space for everyone, we do not tolerate hate speech, sexual harassment, or threats. Any abusive, threatening, or harassing behavior may result in immediate termination of participation in the Services.
7. No Endorsement
Mention of any specific product, service, or organization during interactions does not constitute an endorsement by ULF or Hugspace.
8. Intellectual Property
All content provided by Hugspace remains the intellectual property of ULF and may not be reproduced or redistributed without prior consent.
9. Modification of Terms
ULF reserves the right to modify or update these Terms of Use at any time. Continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance of any revised Terms. Users are encouraged to review this page periodically.
10. Data Use and Privacy Protection
Your privacy is our priority, and we handle your information with the same care and empathy our Peer Advisors provide. Personal data is used solely to operate, improve, and ensure the long-term sustainability of the program and is kept confidential. To provide the highest quality support, we use AI and automated tools to help our Peer Advisors, improve training, and evaluate program effectiveness ─ never to replace human connection or provide medical, psychological, or crisis advice. We protect your identity by anonymizing or de-identifying data whenever possible, processing only what is necessary, and never selling your information or using your identifiable data to train public AI models. Any external reporting uses only aggregated insights that cannot identify you. Your participation is completely voluntary, and you are free to withdraw at any time for any reason. Ultimately, learning from these anonymized insights allows us to continuously refine our approach, ensuring that every session contributes to a more helpful, supportive, and meaningful experience for you and our entire community.
11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the USA. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the use of the Services will be resolved in the courts located in the State of California.
